Methodology

Two separate readings

GoldVNG shows a Short-Term Trend and a Long-Term Market Health score. They use different factors and time frames and are never averaged into one number.

Scores

Each factor is turned into a score from −100 to +100. The Short-Term score is the equal-weight average of up to five factors:

  • Real yield change (21d)
  • USD basket B1-2022 change (21d)
  • Gold momentum (10d)
  • Gold vs USD basket trend
  • CFTC positioning change

The Long-Term score is a 21-day average built from four factors:

  • Real yield regime
  • US debt regime
  • Geopolitical risk (slow)
  • Price structure (adjusts the score by at most ±15)

Official central-bank and mine data are not available; the long-term score is capped at ±55.

Confidence

Confidence is separate from the score and describes how settled the reading is: High 75 and above, Moderate 55–74, Low 35–54, Very Low under 35.

Missing data

A missing factor is excluded, never counted as 0, and shown as a gap. For example, Geopolitical risk (slow) may be unavailable while its data licence is confirmed. With too few factors, no score is shown. Short-Term needs at least 4 of 5 factors for full coverage; Long-Term needs at least 3 of 4 including US debt regime.

Price zones (Premium)

Price zones mark price areas where past H4 or H1 bars moved sideways in a narrow range (the base) just before price moved away quickly. The base is up to six consecutive small bars, each with a range no larger than the 14-bar average true range (ATR) and a body no more than half its range. Within the next three bars there must be a large-bodied bar (body at least 1× ATR) and a close at least 2× ATR beyond the base.

A demand zone sits below the move up, a supply zone above the move down. The zone spans the base; it must be between 0.25× and 1.5× ATR and at least $1.50 wide. Zones use completed bars only, and the same bars always give the same zones.

A zone is no longer shown once a 15-minute bar closes beyond its far edge, a newer overlapping zone on the same side forms, or it is older than 60 H4 bars (120 H1 bars). The list counts how many bars have traded back inside each zone. The construction is a pinned copy of a research script so that it cannot drift. A zone is drawn on the chart from the bar where it was confirmed (when the move away from the base completed), not from the start of the base, because it was not known before then.

The zone-drawing code is checked against the pinned research code. The zones shown can still differ from the research zones, because the app uses Twelve Data H1 and H4 bars rather than the research bars built from 1-minute data.

Zones are untested (low tier). They are descriptive context, not advice to trade, and no claim is made about what price does near them.

What GoldVNG does not do

No trading calls, no forecasts, no price targets.
